Assignment I am most proud of...

       I am most proud of my who are you video because it was my favorite assignment. I feel because I liked the assignment I did better on it in general. I really liked that we got to do what we wanted and we got to do something that defined us. I knew once we got the assignment that I wanted to do video games but I didn't know how I was going to portray it so it was interesting for other people. I then thought back to all the art I had made about the video games that I play and decided to show the artistic side because that would be better than people watching me kill stuff. This assignment impacted my learning because I learned that if you like something you'll do much better on it than if you hated it. I also learned a lot about the people in our class from this assignment.

My three most memorable experiences from this semester

1. My first memorable moment from this year is when we all went to the cumberland fair. That was fun because we all got to get out of the classroom setting and got to get some fresh air. As well as missing classes, I was really excited because we got to hang out for hours at a fair with friends. In the end it felt more like a one day vacation than a homework assignment. The pictures we took from their were really fun to because it was the first time we really got to mess around with all the components of the cameras and the photo compositional strategies.

2. Another memorable moment during this semester was when we had to do the ning posts with our partners in Beijing. Its not everyday that we get to talk to someone across seas and collaborate with them. It was really fun seeing their pictures because they showed us what it is like down there compared to the US. It definitely is a big difference as they have much cooler architecture, different foods, and different traditions.

3. My favorite moment in this class is definitely the who are you videos. We got to take pictures as we wanted and weren't restricted to certain requirements. I also really liked it because we got to see things about people that we might not know. We got to see how everyone is like outside of school and we got to share who we really are. The biggest reason, however, why I liked it is because of the final products, everyones final video was really cool and interesting to watch.

These moments have impacted my learning by opening my eyes to a different side of taking pictures. Instead of just snapping a picture on a phone we got to really think about the setting and make it much better. It was a very fruitful experience because I learned different ways of taking photos and ways that I can edit photos to make them better, funnier, or more refined.

Holiday Spirit Image

When I took this photo I wanted to show the viewer the beauty of smaller things and that the holiday doesn't always have to mean big, flashy, bright, vibrant lights. It can be the little things that look the best and I think the way I portrayed this mini christmas tree shows that point well. 

A photojournalist's response to pollution in China

• What impressed you most about the way he took photos?

He really did a good job of showing the disgusting side of china and really how bad things are there. I really like how he depicted the horrors of the subject through his photos he did a really good job materializing and physically showing what his intentions were. He proved to people that think things can’t be this bad that they can.

• What do you think about the photographs?

I think the photos were really well composed and the photographer took a long time really setting up the photo to show true professionalism. I also think that they are depressing because it shows all this despair that we, in another country, would not normally see. It is a shocking sight to see these images because as I said before, in a first world country, we do not have to worry about these sort of issues.

Culture Clash

1. What were the successes (what did you learn) and challenges of this project AND how did you deal with the difficulties?

My culture clash was ultimately a success because the picture looked funny and that is what I was going for. Although the photo was not as realistic as possible it looked good for me. I learned that photoshop is much easier to use than I previously thought. Some challenges in this image was when images only had like half of the full object that I wanted. But I dealt with these difficulties by putting those objects in the corners so you only saw the bit that was available.

2. Grade yourself, based on the criteria below, 1-4 and explain why: I would give myself a 3 because I followed all the basic parameters for the project. I also did a good job making sure the pictures imported fit in with the scene. However I think I could’ve added a little more to make it more realistic. I could have given everyone a shadow to make them look real but unfortunately I didn’t think of that  until it was done.
